Mentor-Mentee Partnership

MMP

About MMP

MMP by HWR is a structured, year-long mentor–mentee partnership program designed to connect mentees with seasoned professionals who can guide, challenge, and inspire them. It is tagged “The Oasis” because, just like an oasis serves as a fertile refuge in the midst of a desert, this initiative represents a place of growth and renewal. In a world that can often feel uncertain for young people striving for success, The Oasis offers a safe space where mentees can draw from the wisdom, experiences, and stories of those who have journeyed ahead.

The Mentor–Mentee Partnership (MMP) Program was officially launched on Friday, 5th December 2025, at The White Restaurant & Garden, Marina Mall, Accra. The event ran from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and marked the formal commencement of a structured, year-long mentorship journey for the first cohort of mentors and mentees.

The MMP Program was created to foster intentional, consistent, and impactful mentorship relationships between young people and experienced professionals across diverse fields. Beyond inspiration, the program is anchored in real connection, accountability, practical guidance, and shared life experiences—providing mentees with clarity and direction while enabling mentors to give back meaningfully.

Purpose and Vision:

The launch event introduced participants to the vision and objectives of the MMP Program, emphasizing:

• The importance of mentorship in navigating academic, career, and personal decisions.
• Building trust-based mentor–mentee relationships.
• Encouraging discipline, accountability, and consistency in engagement.
• Supporting young people to make informed and confident life choices.

Programme Highlights:

The event opened with a warm welcome from the HWR team and an opening prayer, followed by an introduction to the mission and background of The Hangout with Roselyn. A detailed presentation outlined the structure of the MMP Program, expectations for mentors and mentees, and the framework for engagement throughout the mentorship year.
This was followed by a powerful address from Madam Roselyn, Founder of HWR, who underscored the role of intentional mentorship, guidance, and discipline in shaping purposeful lives and leadership.

Mentor–Mentee Unveiling and Engagement:

A key highlight of the launch was the official unveiling of the mentor–mentee pairings, formally ushering participants into their mentorship relationships. This session was followed by open and interactive engagement, where mentors shared insights from their professional and personal journeys, while mentees expressed their aspirations, expectations, and motivations for joining the program.
The conversations were candid and reflective, setting a strong foundation of trust, openness, and mutual respect.

Expectations and Interactive Dialogue

During an interactive breakfast session, mentors and mentees discussed expectations for the year ahead. Mentors emphasized that mentorship is a shared journey—one rooted in listening, guidance, and growth rather than having all the answers. Key messages focused on consistency, integrity, discipline, and creating a safe space for curiosity and learning.
Mentees expressed gratitude for being selected into the inaugural cohort and committed to being active, respectful, and engaged participants throughout the program.

Programme Structure and Ongoing Support

The HWR team outlined the ongoing support structure for the mentorship year, including:

◦ Regular mentor–mentee engagements.
◦ Clear communication and professional boundaries.
◦ Periodic assessments to track progress.
◦ Continuous support and check-ins from the HWR team.

Participants were encouraged to approach the MMP as a long-term commitment rather than a one-day event.

Networking and Closing

Messages from the program’s patrons reinforced the value of mentorship, discipline, and community in youth development. The event concluded with a networking session, allowing participants to strengthen connections beyond formal pairings, followed by closing remarks and a prayer.

Overall impact

The launch of the Mentor–Mentee Partnership (MMP) Program was a meaningful and successful milestone for The Hangout with Roselyn. It marked the beginning of a structured mentorship journey built on trust, shared learning, and intentional growth.

The depth of engagement, openness of discussions, and commitments made reflect the strong foundation of the program and its potential to create lasting impact in the lives of young people.

PROGRAM STRUCTURE and Modality

DURATION

December 2025 – December 2026 (One Year)

Each mentor will be paired with 1 to 3 mentees, depending on their capacity and availability.

Mentees will be selected through an open application process.

Each mentor will submit a profile, headshot, area of expertise, and desired mentee qualities.

Mentees will apply based on alignment, after which mentors will have the opportunity to select their mentees.

Biweekly Assignments: Mentors will provide light but purposeful tasks, reflections, or learning activities to help mentees apply insights and stay accountable.

Monthly Check-Ins: At least one virtual or in-person meeting each month to discuss progress, challenges, and next steps.

Professional Exposure: Mentors are encouraged, where possible, to invite mentees to public or professional events for practical learning experiences.

Mutual Respect and Boundaries: All meetings should take place in professional or mutually agreed public spaces to maintain appropriate boundaries and ensure comfort for both parties.

Mentees are expected to complete assignments and provide biweekly updates on their progress.

If a mentee consistently fails to engage or meet expectations, mentors should promptly notify the HWR team for follow-up and support.

The HWR team will conduct periodic check-ins with both mentors and mentees to ensure a fulfilling experience for all.

Mid-Year Review (6 Months): A structured assessment to measure progress, gather feedback, and identify areas for improvement.

End-of-Year Assessment: A final evaluation to measure growth, outcomes, and program impact.

These reviews will guide decisions on whether partnerships may continue into a new cycle based on mutual interest and results.
